Also, Greg Klyma has gotten hold of his new album Rust Belt Vagabond. Since I was smart enough to pre-order it, I have a copy of it in my hands! The song of his that I love, "Two Degrees In Buffalo" is track 4. Music samples on Greg's myspace here

If the information in "Two Degrees In Buffalo" is accurate, then we are likely two degrees apart. The song says Greg was born in Sisters Hospital. My aunt was a nurse in the maternity ward. It's quite possible that my aunt helped bring Greg into this world.

He'll likely be in your neck of the woods at some point this year. 8/22 he'll be in Philly, and then again 11/15. Cafe Lena with Anthony da Costa on 12/6.

A highlight from SMAF for me was seeing both Spirit Wing and Dave Crossland performing Dave Crossland's song "When The Buffalo Come Back".

It's a damn good song.

There is a recording of Dave Crossland singing it available in the Amazon MP3 store.

In other news, the space bar on this keyboard is dying and has me mildy annoyed.

Just saw "Baby Mama". Got some good laughs. It's set in Philadelphia, and I think a good number of people in the cinema noticed a pretty bad "continuity error". In two scenes, we see a car driving over the Ben Franklin Bridge.

The Ben Franklin Bridge links Philadelphia and New Jersey.

The problem is that the following scene in the first pass takes place in a town in Pennsylvania. (You can tell because of the keystone shaped Route 610 marker.)

In a later scene, being driven to the hospital from Philadelphia goes over the Ben Franklin Bridge. This should end up in a hospital in New Jersey, but the scene outside the hospital is the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

I'm sure we'll eventually see that goof here.

I also finished off Bioshock this evening. I'm not much of one for first-person shooters, but I really enjoyed the game, despite it making me a little bit dizzy. The only disappointment I have with the movie is the very end. It has an incredibly short epilogue which lasts maybe two minutes.

Oh well.

Time to assemble my mom's birthday gift.

Sirius Disorder has been giving some airtime to Angelique Kidjo. (Warning: Flash/Music). It seems that she is a pretty major star in the international pop scene. She's been nominated for a Grammy 4 times. I'd put her firmly inthe Afro-Pop genre (if there is such a thing). I'd describe her to my music friends as a blend of Vance Gilbert, Sweet Honey In The Rock, and the Soweto Gospel Choir

Disorder has been playing a cover of "Mysterious Ways". I'm looking forward to the MP3 release of that song, or, alternatively, I might get the whole album: "In The Name Of Love: Africa Celebrates U2"

The other funny thing is that Sirius Disorder has basically been "In Hiding" since "The Grateful Dead" channel bumped Disorder from from 32 up to 70. 70 used to be "Planet Jazz", but became Sirius Disorder. The only problem is that Sirius has not bothered to broadcast a channel update (They do this a couple times a year). It's gotten so ridiculous, Disorder has started running "sweeps" (short blurbs between songs) making fun of themselves like "Yeah, we know it says 'Planet Jazz'".
