When driving in the southbound lanes of I-476, the appropriate direction to drive is SOUTHBOUND. Not Northbound as you were going.

The appropriate method for passing a car is to speed up past them on their left hand side, then signal your lane change, then move back into your lane and maintain a speed as fast or fater than the car that is now behind you.
It is improper to: barely gain a car length in front of the car you're passing before returning to the lane. Fail to signal your lane change. Slow down after returning to the lane forcing the car you passed to swerve around you.
